Kirkland 8 Piece Luxury Make-Up Brushes Collection Review

I love discovering "underdog" products, as well as finding new products that work great in general so when I stumbled upon this brush set whilst perusing the aisles in Costco (I know! How random? Costco of all places) I immediately grabbed a set from the shelf and put it in my trolley.

Now I already have plenty of make-up brushes to last me a lifetime so I really didn't need anymore but it was the price of this set that really drew me to it. It was being sold for £15.00! Considering that the set contains eight brushes (however one of the brushes is dual ended essentially making it nine brushes in total) and comes with a pouch as well, I knew I couldn't pass this bargain up.

And believe me, I have not been disappointed with this set. It's fabulous! So let me tell you why...
To begin with, the quality of these brushes match the quality you'd expect to get from a high end, very expensive brand of brushes, for example MAC, Sigma, Chanel etc which is a feat in itself.

Admittedly when I got this set home I really wasn't expecting the brushes to be anything special or worth talking about but when I opened up the set and had a look at each brush I couldn't quite believe the softness of their bristles. I sat for about five minutes reveling over just how feather soft they felt on my skin. My mum thought I was going crazy sitting on the sofa sweeping a powder brush back and forth across my face as I sighed happily.

Next I took a look at the "pouch" it came with. The exterior of the pouch has a faux reptile metallic finish to it and I personally think it looks really sophisticated and pretty. It's incredibly durable and wipe clean which is handy when you're working with the likes of make-up which let's face it (ha, no pun intended) can get very messy at times.

The interior of the pouch is made up of a small mesh zipped compartment on one side where you can keep additional brushes, make-up products, anything really and on the other side there are eight sections for you to slot each brush into. Again, the material on the inside of the pouch is easily cleaned too.

I think the best thing about this set though is that each make-up brush' handle is titled as to what it's purpose is making this set perfect for beginners but would be equally appreciated by those of us who are familiar with make-up brushes and their functions. As you can see above the handles of the brushes are also metallic (gold metallic) which is in keeping with the appearance of the pouch which was manufactured to compliment one another I presume. I think they have such a luxurious, expensive look to them but that could be disputed I suppose.

The entire set contains:

Angled Cheek Brush:

All Over Eye Brush:

All Purpose Eye Brush:

Dual Fibre Crease Brush:

Angled Liner Brush/Spoolie:

Finishing Brush:

Powder Brush:

Foundation Brush:

I've tried and tested the entire set of brushes out for just close to a whole week now and as much as I do enjoy using them all, I do favour three the most. My three firm favourites are the 'Finishing' brush, the 'Powder' brush and the 'All Over Eye' brush.

The finishing brush is incredibly soft and I like to use it to apply my liquid foundation as it provides such an effortless, flawless and airbrushed look to my skin -- I have found myself using it in replace of my Real Technique's Buffing Brush which is really saying something too as I adore that brush.

The powder brush is again very soft which makes for the application of face powder positively heavenly. The bristles are dense but don't pick up too much product so I never need to worry about getting that "powdery" look...despite using a face powder.

The all over eye brush is great when you want to achieve a quick fuss free eye look with one shade of eyeshadow to sweep over your entire eyelid and not need to bother with too much shading or best of all none at all. Similarly to my other two favourite brushes in this set, the all over eye brush feels so soft which is especially crucial when you're using tools around and on your eyes as the skin there is delicate and very thin which makes it easy to harm.

Additionally, this set also comes with a mini booklet containing a brief description of each brush and it's use, as well as a brush cleaning manual which is simply an added bonus.

Overall, I think you can already tell that I seriously rate and recommend this brush set. My fellow Britons should make a visit to their local Costco to see if this set is being sold there as I can guarantee you won't regret it. As for it being sold in international Costco's, I can't make any promises that it's being sold there too but it's certainly worth a look. Alternatively, I made a Google search and it seems this set is available from several sellers on eBay as well as on Amazon.

  2. Despite mentioning that I bought this brush set in Costco earlier this year, I doubt they will still be available and in stock but it's worth a look regardless. The last time I checked online, this brush set was being sold from various sellers on eBay as well as on Amazon. I think your best bet would be to browse either of the two websites. I hope you manage to get your hands on a set, they really are great. Let me know if you need any additional help. Emily x
