New Revlon Lip Butter Shades!

Just a quick post to let you all know that Revlon are releasing additional colours within their incredibly popular lip butter range. I'm thrilled to hear this as I myself love their lip butters and wear them frequently.

As far as I'm aware some of the shades are already available in the United States (and potentially elsewhere internationally) and have been since the lip butters first debuted but I do believe that some of the new shades will be new to all of us.

The new shades are as follows:

Red Velvet
Brown Sugar
Sugar Plum
Watermelon
Juicy Papaya
Sorbet
Pink Lemonade

I definitely know 'Red Velvet' is part of the lip butter range in the United States as it was one of the shades I would swoon over each time I'd look online on Ulta/Rite Aid/Target. 'Red Velvet' is a beautiful deep red that reminds me of Christmas every time I see it - such a shame Christmas has come and gone as I just know I'd have worn it around the party season. Nevertheless, when I see the new colours on the shelves in store I am definitely going to purchase a couple...hmm probably more than just a couple. Hehe.

All the new shades will retail for £7.99, similarly to the rest of Revlon's lip butters. Thank you so much Revlon for answering my prayers and providing me/us/the world with even more wonderful colours to choose from.

As if I don't already spend too much money on make-up, apparently I'm going to be spending even more it seems. Not that I'm complaining :-)

Kirkland 8 Piece Luxury Make-Up Brushes Collection Review

I love discovering "underdog" products, as well as finding new products that work great in general so when I stumbled upon this brush set whilst perusing the aisles in Costco (I know! How random? Costco of all places) I immediately grabbed a set from the shelf and put it in my trolley.

Now I already have plenty of make-up brushes to last me a lifetime so I really didn't need anymore but it was the price of this set that really drew me to it. It was being sold for £15.00! Considering that the set contains eight brushes (however one of the brushes is dual ended essentially making it nine brushes in total) and comes with a pouch as well, I knew I couldn't pass this bargain up.

And believe me, I have not been disappointed with this set. It's fabulous! So let me tell you why...
To begin with, the quality of these brushes match the quality you'd expect to get from a high end, very expensive brand of brushes, for example MAC, Sigma, Chanel etc which is a feat in itself.

Admittedly when I got this set home I really wasn't expecting the brushes to be anything special or worth talking about but when I opened up the set and had a look at each brush I couldn't quite believe the softness of their bristles. I sat for about five minutes reveling over just how feather soft they felt on my skin. My mum thought I was going crazy sitting on the sofa sweeping a powder brush back and forth across my face as I sighed happily.

Next I took a look at the "pouch" it came with. The exterior of the pouch has a faux reptile metallic finish to it and I personally think it looks really sophisticated and pretty. It's incredibly durable and wipe clean which is handy when you're working with the likes of make-up which let's face it (ha, no pun intended) can get very messy at times.

The interior of the pouch is made up of a small mesh zipped compartment on one side where you can keep additional brushes, make-up products, anything really and on the other side there are eight sections for you to slot each brush into. Again, the material on the inside of the pouch is easily cleaned too.

I think the best thing about this set though is that each make-up brush' handle is titled as to what it's purpose is making this set perfect for beginners but would be equally appreciated by those of us who are familiar with make-up brushes and their functions. As you can see above the handles of the brushes are also metallic (gold metallic) which is in keeping with the appearance of the pouch which was manufactured to compliment one another I presume. I think they have such a luxurious, expensive look to them but that could be disputed I suppose.

The entire set contains:

Angled Cheek Brush:

All Over Eye Brush:

All Purpose Eye Brush:

Dual Fibre Crease Brush:

Angled Liner Brush/Spoolie:

Finishing Brush:

Powder Brush:

Foundation Brush:

I've tried and tested the entire set of brushes out for just close to a whole week now and as much as I do enjoy using them all, I do favour three the most. My three firm favourites are the 'Finishing' brush, the 'Powder' brush and the 'All Over Eye' brush.

The finishing brush is incredibly soft and I like to use it to apply my liquid foundation as it provides such an effortless, flawless and airbrushed look to my skin -- I have found myself using it in replace of my Real Technique's Buffing Brush which is really saying something too as I adore that brush.

The powder brush is again very soft which makes for the application of face powder positively heavenly. The bristles are dense but don't pick up too much product so I never need to worry about getting that "powdery" look...despite using a face powder.

The all over eye brush is great when you want to achieve a quick fuss free eye look with one shade of eyeshadow to sweep over your entire eyelid and not need to bother with too much shading or best of all none at all. Similarly to my other two favourite brushes in this set, the all over eye brush feels so soft which is especially crucial when you're using tools around and on your eyes as the skin there is delicate and very thin which makes it easy to harm.

Additionally, this set also comes with a mini booklet containing a brief description of each brush and it's use, as well as a brush cleaning manual which is simply an added bonus.

Overall, I think you can already tell that I seriously rate and recommend this brush set. My fellow Britons should make a visit to their local Costco to see if this set is being sold there as I can guarantee you won't regret it. As for it being sold in international Costco's, I can't make any promises that it's being sold there too but it's certainly worth a look. Alternatively, I made a Google search and it seems this set is available from several sellers on eBay as well as on Amazon.

New Spring Beauty Products I'm Most Excited For!

I am someone who loves to experiment with make-up and so obviously it makes sense that I equally love trying out new (and old, figuratively speaking) products, too.

Lately, it has seemed inevitable that I hear about, or read about many, many new products due to launch for Spring 2013 - bearing in mind some of the products I am about to mention might have already debuted in different countries other than my own.

The majority of the new cosmetics I continue to see cropping up everywhere I go appear truly incredible or at the very least, worth a look but for the purpose of my blog - and so this post isn't massively long - I've narrowed it down to my top five new Spring beauty products that I am most anxious for, and don't be surprised if most of them are for lips. I can't help myself. Hehe.

In no particular order:

1) Maybelline New York Colour Sensational Vivids Lipcolour

These lipsticks are said to be (as quoted by Maybelline) neon coated pigments producing Colour Sensational's brightest most vibrant colour ever. The end look is intense and bold, but never garish. Colour is rich, luscious and bright and wears for up to four hours! Formula with honey nectar keeps lips feeling smooth, nourished, never dry, chalky or cakey.

Well those are some pretty hefty claims to make Maybelline! Now I cannot confirm whether these lipsticks perform in the way they have been described as they aren't in stores in the UK yet but I am definitely looking forward to when I can officially test them. If you don't know me very well then know this, I love anything for my lips. I specifically love lipsticks that come in bright or dark shades so obviously these lipsticks are perfect for me! ...I hope.

2) Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation

I'm already a fan of Revlon foundations - their Colourstay range is brilliant - and having heard about their new foundation 'Nearly Naked,' and admittedly seeing several great first impressions/reviews of it on YouTube, I am desperate to get my mitts on this.

According to Revlon this foundation balances skin and make-up so they work in perfect harmony, with buildable coverage and seamless blending, you are sure to cover flaws and perfect your skin’s tone and texture. No heavy cakey or greasy mess. Available in sixteen true to tone shades.

3) Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes

Following on from Clinque's successful Chubby Stick for lips, they have now launched a line for eyes.

Being brutally honest here, I really didn't like Clinique's Chubby Stick's - for lips - and much preferred Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains (the Chubby Stick's drugstore equivalent) because I found them to be far more pigmented (to put in layman's terms, they delivered better colour payoff on the lips) and were a fraction of the price; which is always a bonus, am I right?

So why then Emily, are you excited for Chubby Stick's for eyes when you didn't like them for lips you ask? I'll tell you why! Two reasons. First, simply because I'm not about to be so prejudiced as to point blank refuse to even consider trying this product after having not liked the make-up line before it. Second, I cannot not try these eyeshadows. I love eyeshadow and I am terribly curious to see the texture these have and the finish they provide.

4) Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer

Now as far as I'm aware, these lip laquers are already out in stores as of January 23rd, however I've yet to see them anywhere. I imagine this is because they were immediately snapped up as soon as they were on the shelves and I suppose rightly so! The packaging does look amazing - as seen in the image above - and with any new launch, there is always a buzz around it and these Rimmel Apocalips are no exception.

These lip laquers are supposed to give the intensity of a lipstick with the shine of a lipgloss. I suspect these are going to be very similar to Yves Saint Laureant's Rouge pur Couture Glossy Stain but of course, far less pricey. This range comes in eight shades total from a seriously nude nude to some very vibrant brights.

I am a serious fan of Rimmel lipsticks and find myself always applying their Kate Moss Lasting Finish Matte lipstick in 107 of late so it is to be expected that I shall be buying at least one of these lip laquers so therefore stay tuned for a potential review of these from me in the near future!

5) L'Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Aqua Lip Colour

Allegedly this line of lip colour combines the power of a lip stain with a lipgloss luster. They are said to have been formulated with a blend of light hydrating oils and concentrated pigments, delivering lasting colour with a glossy finish. They are to leave lips soft, comfortable and hydrated for up to six hours.

Similarly to the Rimmel Apocalips, I surmise this new lip product from L'Oreal will be the more affordable counterpart to the Yves Saint Laureant Glossy Stains. They come in twelve shades but I am uncertain just how many of the twelve colours will be released here in the UK as I believe they are already available in the United States (and perhaps elsewhere, too.) Fingers crossed we get the full selection of colours on offer.

And so there you have it! A rundown of my top five beauty products I can't wait to see released in stores by me. Apologies for this post being so long, I shall try harder next time to keep things brief and to the point.

It's Been A Long Time Coming

So, as the title suggests, this has been a long time coming... *drum roll please*

I have decided to create a beauty blog and join the 23940228502 (FYI not an exact number, I like to exaggerate however I really wouldn't be surprised if that many beauty blogs did exist on the web) other beauty bloggers out there and see what all the fuss is really about.

I have speculated for a year or two now on whether to start up a beauty blog and quite frankly I don't know why today has pushed me to do so. Nevertheless I am incredibly excited about the potential my blog might have.

I can't say how frequent I will update my blog, but I am hoping regularly if I find myself becoming addicted to writing posts - which I can almost predict will happen.  So I will aim to update my blog at the very least once a week but no promises as my personal life is going to be particularly busy in the up and coming months.

That's all for now I think. I just wanted to say hello and give a small introduction. My next post shall certainly be something beauty related, most probably about make-up as that is what I am most passionate about. I loooooooove make-up! Okay, I'll shut up now and go.
